Každý rok se musí dostat k dětem po celém světě velikonoční nadílka. A právě od toho tu jsou Velikonoční zajíci. Titul Velikonočního zajíce se dědí z generace na generaci a pro každého ušáka by měla být velká čest se jím stát. Avšak to neplatí pro mladého Zajdu, kterého více než roznášení velikonoční výslužky zajímá hra na bicí. Touží se stát bubeníkem v kapele a hrát na koncertech po celém světě. To si ale vůbec nepřeje jeho otec, Seňor Zajíc, který bere své povinnosti velice vážně a chce, aby jeho funkci co nejdříve převzal Zajda. Po jedné ze společných hádek se Zajda rozhodne utéci do Los Angeles, kde hodlá hudebně prorazit. Místo toho ale narazí – na přední nárazník automobilu, který řídí Fred, nezodpovědný flákač jako Zajda. Liší se od něj snad jen tím, že je člověk. Protože srážku mezi Zajdou a autem vyhrálo auto, musí se Fred o zraněného chlupáče postarat, dokud se plně nezotaví. Za tenhle dobrý skutek bude po zásluze potrestán, protože jeho život se v tu chvíli promění v sérii katastrof.
